About the department

Environmental Education

Environmental Education is offered as a compulsory foundation course at the undergraduate level in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) as per NEP 2020. While it does not function as an independent department within the college, the course constitutes an integral component of the broader academic framework, ensuring that all students are sensitized to contemporary environmental concerns and sustainability issues.

The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of key environmental concepts, including ecosystem functioning, natural resource management, environmental pollution, climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development practices. Emphasis is placed on both theoretical perspectives and practical exposure to enhance students’ analytical and critical thinking abilities.

Through lectures, field-based observations, project assignments, and participatory learning approaches, the course aims to foster environmental literacy and responsible citizenship among learners. Environmental Education thus supports the institution’s commitment to holistic development, encouraging students to recognize the interconnectedness of human activities and the natural environment and to contribute meaningfully to sustainable societal progress.
