The Philosophy Department of Sir Rashbehari Ghosh Mahavidyalaya was introduced in response to the growing demand for humanities education in the region. The General Course in Philosophy started in 2013, and later, the Honours Course was introduced in 2016, under the affiliation of the University of Burdwan.

Despite being located in a remote village, away from city facilities, the department is committed to nurturing students with philosophical insight, ethical thinking, and critical reasoning. We aim to empower first-generation learners and rural youth through value-based education.

Currently, the department is run by a small team of dedicated faculty members. They constantly strive to create a positive learning environment where students can grow not just academically, but also morally and intellectually.
